The garden in Cantley initially featured a muddy lawn, particularly problematic due to the clients' dogs, and a limited patio space directly outside the house. The existing brick retaining wall was curved, a feature which was retained and enhanced in the new design.
Our design created a multi-level garden, incorporating a significantly larger patio area and a low-maintenance lawn. Curved gabion walls, filled with light-coloured river cobbles, define the different levels and create raised planting beds.
The main patio area is laid with large grey porcelain paving, offering a clean, durable surface. Gently curving steps, also edged with gabion stones, lead down to the artificial grass lawn, providing a year-round green space suitable for dogs.
Timber sleepers form additional raised planting beds around the perimeter, and a timber pergola provides a shaded area over a section of the patio. This area also includes gabion-built seating and what appears to be a hot tub, enclosed by horizontal timber screening.
The completed garden offers distinct zones for relaxation and play, with practical, hard-wearing materials creating an attractive and functional outdoor living space.
